Water recipes to cleanse your body

Water is essential for the body to function and it goes without saying, that it’s the cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle, but what if you’re bored of glugging down endless plain water?

A great option is to drink water mixed with fruits to add flavour. Here are some of the Detox Bibles favourite fruit water recipes. Why not give them a try or experiment with your own concoctions?

Lemon water
This is a refreshing drink that is really good for your liver. The Vitamin C in the lemons helps to neutralise toxins, while your liver gets a fantastic boost, thanks to the many more enzymes it can make out of fresh lemon juice.

How to make it:
Simply add slices of lemon and leaves of mint to water. Leave the water to infuse for a couple hours in the fridge then enjoy!

Lemon & ginger water
A great addition to lemon water is ginger. The ginger in this drink helps to settle any nausea and improve your digestive health. Plus, ginger is known to help to detox our bodies, thanks to a strong detoxifying agent.

How to make it:
To make lemon and ginger water, simply squeeze fresh lemon juice and a knob of ginger root into water. Leave to infuse for a few hours then drink.

Warm lime & mint water
Warm lime water on an empty stomach is a great way to kick start your fat burning powerhouse – the liver. Lime water helps to stimulate your digestive system and detoxify your body. It’s also a refreshing way to start the day. Add some mint leaves to spice up the flavour and support digestion.

How to make it:
To make warm lime water, simply pour cooled hot water over chopped lime. Add a squeeze of lime and mint leaves to taste then enjoy!

Grapefruit water

Grapefruit not only adds flavour to water but kick starts fat burning to aid weight loss too. Adding a few mint leaves also adds a little flavour whilst helping to support your digestive system.

How to make it:
Simply chop up a grapefruit and add a couple of mint leaves (optional), place in a bottle, add water and leave to infuse for a couple of hours before drinking.

Apple & cinnamon water
Apples are known to help detoxify the body and to help restore normal functioning to digestion, cells and circulation. This recipe combines the health benefits of apples with cinnamon, which stimulates your internal organs to cleanse themselves.

How to make it:
Chop an apple and place in a bottle of water with a cinnamon stick (using cinnamon sticks rather than powdered cinnamon prevents the water from becoming clogged). Leave to infuse for a couple of hours then enjoy.
